Yacht Safety Certifications and Equipment: What to Check For

Safety on a yacht charter isn't something you should have to ask about, but it's worth knowing what's standard so you can recognize a properly run charter if you're comparing options.
Licensed crew
Every charter should include a licensed, experienced captain — not just someone who knows how to drive the boat, but someone trained in the specific safety and navigation requirements for operating on UAE waters.
Standard safety equipment
Life jackets sized for everyone on board (including children, if applicable), a first aid kit, and basic emergency equipment are standard on every charter with us. If you're booking elsewhere and this isn't confirmed upfront, it's worth asking directly before paying.
Weather judgment
See our weather and safety guide for how conditions affect a charter — a captain who's willing to delay or reschedule for safety, rather than push ahead regardless, is a good sign of a properly run operation.
What to ask before booking
If you have specific concerns — young children aboard, a guest who can't swim, any medical considerations — raise them directly when booking. A charter operator should be able to answer clearly, not vaguely, when asked about safety equipment and crew experience.
