Your First Fishing Trip in Dubai: What to Bring and What to Expect

You do not need to have fished before to enjoy a fishing trip in Dubai. On a private boat with a crew, the equipment is on board, the bait is ready and someone shows you how. Here is what to bring and what to expect on the Sea Hunter 34ft.
What to bring
- Sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses — polarised ones help you see into the water
- Light, long-sleeved clothing for sun protection
- Shoes with grip that you do not mind getting wet
- A light jacket in winter — the run back can be cool
- Snacks, or add food when you book
- Seasickness tablets if you are prone to it
What you do not need to bring
Rods, tackle and bait are included, and so are water and soft drinks.

What happens on board
The captain chooses where to fish and moves the boat if it is quiet. The crew rigs the rods, puts on the bait and shows you how to drop the line, feel a bite and reel in. Fishing is patient work — there will be quiet spells — and no trip can promise a catch, but a good crew and a full day give you the best chance.
Comfort
The T-top shades the helm and middle deck, and below deck there is a cabin with a double bed, a toilet and a shower — useful on a six-hour trip.
How long
Six hours minimum. It sounds long until you are out there; it is what gives you time to fish rather than just travel. More on that in what a fishing trip in Dubai costs.

When to go
The cooler months, roughly October to April, are the most comfortable for a long day on an open deck, and they are the busiest — weekend dates go first. From May to September, book an early start and fish the morning before the heat builds. For which fish turn up when, see our fishing charter guide.
